I can't wait for you to see it! I am curious to see how you think it aged. I think it still holds up today. Also, Gary Busey adlibbed almost all of his dialog so I will be curious to see what you think of his performance. :)
Beetlejuice is not only a great film but a goldmine of costume ideas. I showed my wife the first Phantasm movie a few years ago. She said "I didn't get it" and I said "welcome to Phantasm," lol. I'll have to check out the Coffin Joe Trilogy!
Fantastic film recommendations, Flack! I'm a fan of all four! Silver Bullet gets a bad rap, but I enjoy it. Gary Busey and Corey Haim are fun to watch. The other three movies are classics. It's been several years since I've watched Young Frankenstein all the way through... I need to correct that oversight.
Some films I always seem to watch around Halloween are the original Halloween (usually on Halloween itself), Night of the Living Dead (1968), The Uninvited (an atmospheric, classic Hollywood film from 1944 sarring Ray Milland and Ruth Hussey), and The Lost Boys, which hearkens me back to my time in the military when I saw the film shortly before Halloween in 1987 at the post theater in Monterey. A few days later, on Halloween, I went up the coast to Santa Cruz, where the movie was shot, and had a surreal series of experiences on Halloween night.
Great recommendations! I'm actually going to watch Silver Bullet for the first time this year at my local theater's retro horror series.
